Phase 2

Thriving

Take2 provides our graduates with long-term support to ensure they have the best possible chance to succeed in the community.

Employment Opportunities
We work with industry partners to create apprenticeship and employment opportunities, including roles within our social enterprise, Take2 Labs.
Mentors
Our graduates are regularly supported by tech professionals and business leaders who guide them on their journey and help normalise success.
Counselling
Many individuals leaving prison face trauma, and the transition back into society can be challenging. Counselling helps our graduates navigate this journey successfully.
Community
We foster an alumni group where graduates support one another. Having shared the experience of re-entering society after prison, Take2 graduates are well-placed to empathise, encourage, and help each other achieve their goals.
Connectivity
We supply a laptop, internet access, and a phone plan. Connectivity is more important than ever — giving our graduates the tools to reconnect with friends and whānau while advancing their learning and job search.
Bank Account and ID
Many people are released from prison without the basic logistics needed to participate in society. Without an ID, they can’t open a bank account; without a bank account, they can’t receive government support on release.
Personal Finances
It’s important that our graduates have a budget in place and receive assistance with debt consolidation to help them get back on their feet.

Tikanga

Tikanga Māori is woven into the delivery of our programme. We are proudly committed to the values of manaakitanga (nurturing), whanaungatanga (relationships), tika, pono, aroha (truth, faith, and care), ako (to teach and to learn), and pitomata (nurturing the seed of potential).

Tikanga

Learning isn’t a one-way road at Take2. It’s an open road between teachers and students that allows both to learn and grow together. This concept has profoundly accelerated my growth and development.
